WeekendinAmsterdam

Here’s more of what happened!:

Clockwise from top left: 1. Best 50 euro cents I've ever spent. 2. The hot dog vendor is smirking because there is a big animal rights/pro-vegan demonstration going on beside his cart. 3. Love the swirls. 4. Check out the crooked lines of the windows.

We mostly spent the weekend wandering the streets of Amsterdam. Clockwise from top left: 1. Best 50 euro cents I’ve ever spent. 2. The hot dog vendor is smirking because there is a huge animal rights/pro-vegan demonstration going on beside his cart. 3. Love the swirls. 4. Check out the crooked lines of the windows.

We relaxed in the beautiful and massive main public library. Top: Cool light fixture. Bottom left: There was an entire floor of dozens of these shelves of colourful DVDs. Bottom right: Allan looking at pictures in National Geographic.

Amsterdammers really understand the value of public spaces. We relaxed in the beautiful and massive main library. Top: Cool light fixture. Bottom left: There was an entire floor of dozens of these shelves of colourful DVDs. Bottom right: Allan catching up on pictures in National Geographic.

Clockwise from top left: 1. The reason we originally planned to go to Amsterdam this weekend is because Albert was in town helping to coach the New Zealand national women's rugby team in a tournament. They won! 2. Coffee break. 3. Gorgeous canal lined with bikes - doesn't get more classic Amsterdam than that! 4. Gouda (and my reflection) in a shop window.

Left: Amsterdam is 5 metres below sea level which accounts for all the water. Centre: selection of wine gums. Right: It looks like doors floating on the side of a building...they're actually shutter.

More tomorrow!
